Here are few of the recent important happenings in Indian politics -

Anti-Modi camp, realizing that it’s not possible to finish off Modi politically, has been trying its best to use legal path to curtail him. They were relying on SC verdict to trap Modi to meet their sinister design. One word by SC on Modi would have triggered a massive campaign by media and anti-Modi organizations to topple Modi. People like Sanjeev Bhatt with the help of media were used to influence SC. However, SC under the leadership of Justice Kapadia upheld the law of the land and prevented itself to be used as a political tool. The SC verdict had been a major set back by anti-Modi camp though the detractors in unison tried to project it as a victory, which it is not.

2. Narendra Modi took everyone by surprise with the speed with which he announced his “Sadbhavana Mission”. He undertook a 3 day fast to promote unity and communal harmony in the state. We saw the same propaganda of past 9 years played out in media to dismiss his initiative as a political gimmick. The innumerable anti-Modi articles, the sound-bytes given to the likes of Teesta, Mallika Sarabhai etc and the continuous debate to paint Modi black in media will go down in history as a journalistic shame that world’s largest democracy has unfortunately witnessed.

3. Modi received immense support from within BJP , NDA and non-NDA partners ; the most prominent being J Jayalalitha and Raj Thackerey who are powerful non-NDA personalities. Message is clear Jayalalitha and Raj Thackerey will support BJP only if Modi is its leader. The only thorn was Nitish Kumar and media played it to the fullest.

4. During his fast Modi did not indulge in any secularist gimmick rather he stood to his conviction and presented a new model to the nation with the slogan of “ Sabka sath Sabka Vikas”. He spoke with vigor about the development activities in Gujarat and how it helps every community. There is a huge presence of Muslim supporters too that media conveniently ignored.

5. Modi did not indulge in any gimmick to make the media or a particular community happy. When asked to wear a skull cap by a Maulana he politely refused and asked for a shawl instead. Media played it as a communal trait of Modi . Though the real communal activity is when most of our leaders indulge in the hypocrisy of wearing a skull cap and offering namaz for few votes . Have you seen any of the muslim leaders going to a temple and doing idol worship? Their political career will end then and there.

6. Media is just interested to know if he is aspiring for PM and will this fast is enough to change his image. Modi showed media the mirror by saying the easiest way to change his image can be done by keeping the media happy through various means icluding unethical ones . He does not need to work so hard to change his image.

7. Modi has been truthful about the intentions of this Sadbhavana mission. He said he is attempting to project his concept of secularism to the nation and want the country to debate on this against the current form of secularism that has only divided and weaken the society. Modi-baiters and media obviously are not interested as it challenges the status-quo.

8. What is clear now is Modi is going to aggressively spread his message among masses and he has considerable support to his all-inclusive development model from Sangh, BJP and non-BJP partners. His biggest obstacle is media and anti-Modi camp which are not political players but still play destructive politics on behalf of their political masters.

9. The political scene in India is heating up and I pray this leads to a new paradigm shift in our nation

10. Here are all the interviews Modi gave during Sadbhavana mission. I request readers to understand the larger message that he conveys.

In recent times, land acquisition has been one of the most contentious issues in India. At most of the instances, the reason is due to the collusion between politicians, bureaucrats, business men and land mafia who completely disregard the interest of the land owners. There are also some so-called activists who do not miss any opportunity to exploit the situation.

This happens due to lack of political will in following a good land acquisition policy. Gujarat is one state having a clear land policy that treats land owners as partners. This has recently been praised by the SC of India as shown in the extracts and links below :

“the Supreme Court has complimented the BJP government in Gujarat for having a policy that doesn’t permit “forced” eviction of farmers from their land.”

“In a morale booster to the Narendra Modi government in Gujarat, the apex court complimented it for its land acquisition policy since there are “no complaints of any forcible acquisition” whereas issues of farmers and poor being uprooted are pouring in from all other states.”

http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report_land-acquisition-law-fraud-by-sick-people-supreme-court_1572741

http://www.indianexpress.com/news/land-act-a-fraud-learn-from-gujarat-says-sc/827449/

The below articles throw some light on the good land acquisition policy followed Gujarat in spite of rapid industrialization.

http://www.expressindia.com/latest-news/SEZheavy-Gujarat-Thanks-to-the-states-landacquisition-policy-for-no-Nandigrams-here/273221/

http://www.gujaratindia.com/media/news.htm?enc=KIN4q/jNm90+toii5qZl5EPC7kzGIsfoo/Golnrswj4oDYh1yVsahqnyHD3QjJdxoMbMOQBoodAVttjtN57mDjLMID4y5dq30WyPMhWK9Ebme8evhQ4FkpPlkYFbZ/Xs0PKAFayvAK0uS5VBl/oaTw==

The media coverage of SC praise has been limited to few print media. The visual media chose completely to ignore the news though it keeps its eyes wide open to even the smallest problems in Gujarat to malign Modi. Sometimes I feel media is against Modi more vehemently than Congress politicians.

Though I don’t write much about Rahul Gandhi but I would like the readers to contrast Modi with Rahul on this issue as Congress is using land acquisition to project Rahul Gandhi as a mass leader.

Rahul Gandhi appeared in Bhatta-Parasul to launch his political campaigning in UP. However, his illusions about seeing dead bodies, his lies about the raped women exposed his immaturity and lack of seriousness in politics. To make up for this mess Congress strategists made him do a Padyatra that was turned into a “Peepli Live” moment for media where all that reported was that he had dal-roti on Day 1, on day-2 he slept on a charpai,on day 3 he walked on mud etc. Nowhere, he threw any light on his understanding of the issue and his solutions to resolve it. Media, as usual, crawled in front of the prince of dynasty like a slave and dished out to aam-admi some nonsense in their orchestrated TV studios. Below is couple of samples from the most chamcha channel Nehru Dynasty TV.

http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/rahul-gandhi-eats-dal-roti-at-night-halt-at-farmer-s-house-117022

http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/rahul-s-padyatra-bsp-calls-it-theatrics-bjp-says-it-won-t-help-farmers-117033

Rahul Gandhi during his Padyatra also praised neighboring Haryana Govt., a Congress rules state, for its excellent land acquisition. However, few weeks later we realized that he is actually praising the excellent land acquisition that Haryana Govt. does for Gandhi family and its trusts. Any independent media would have exposed the double standards of him in no uncertain terms, but for our media black-out is the only way when it is against Gandhi family.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/9450879.cms

Though he preached Mayawati a lot about farmer rights , Rahul Gandhi conveniently forgot about the atrocities happening in Congress ruled states against farmers. In Maharashtra this is the second police shoot-out happening against farmers , first in Jaitapur and now in Mumbai-Pune highway.

Conclusion:

1. Other political leaders should be open to learn good policies from Gujarat

2. Media should stop selling an ignorant man as a messiah

Does Indian English media manufacture outrage to help a particular party and ideology? Is Indian media soft on culprits who speak good English and left-leaning where as is it treating others with complete disdain showing no respect to their rights in a democracy? Does Indian English media work on a sinister campaign of maligning Hindus, Indian values and Indian beliefs. I have narrated some recent attempts of blatant media propaganda. In a democracy this is unfortunate. However, if you question the media you are immediately branded as a right-wing Hindu extremist. With this kind of arrogance and filthy tactics it is more appropriate to call the Delhi-based media as news manufacturers rather than media channels. The elite bias and political bias that our media shows has reached its nadir. Public anger against media is more than public anger against politicians.

1. Kalmadi vs Sheila Dikshit :

Media went after Kalmadi with vengeance and he landed in jail. But nation knows that Kalmadi is a small fish in the whole CWG scam. Delhi Govt. executed most of the projects that are mired with huge irregularity and corruption. Why did the media not question Sheila Dikshit with the same vigor as it went after Kalmadi? Was Kalmadi used by media as a guinea pig to protect the real culprits?Except a very reluctant Arnab Goswami of Times Now no other channel is even questioning Sheila’s role in CWG scam , in fact few of them have joined in a propaganda to question the authenticity of CAG.

2. Yedyurappa vs Sheila Dikshit :

Based on Santosh Hegde’s report media made Yedyurappa resign from CM post. The accusations are – a) One mining company donated 10 crores to his son’s trust b) His son sold a 2 acres of land for 20 crores . Both these accusations are not directly linked with mining scam and Yedyurappa was hounded even before he got a chance to look at the report. The way Santosh Hegde went from one TV channel to another targeting Yedyurappa is something Kiran Bedi needs to ponder about if she wants an independent Lokpal. The CAG chief never went to news channels. A person holding a Govt. office should not let himself used for political purpose. Here is a nice article on the reality of mining scam and you may see Yedyurappa is the least beneficiary of the scam.

http://kiranasis.blogspot.com/2011/07/are-you-wondering-if-bs-yedyurappa-will.html

However,if guilty of corruption Yedyurappa deserved to be sacked . The question is why Sheila Dikshit is not put into the same scrutiny when both Shunglu report and Delhi Lokpal have pointed fingers at her for CWG scam? Is it her good English that bowls over our elite media or is it more than that e.g. there are rumors of few media channels collecting huge amount of bribes to save Delhi govt.

If Yedyurappa has to go then Sheila Dikshit has to go too.

3. Mayawati vs Sheila Dikshit

This is an example of the elite bias of English media. Mayawati does not speak English, she is not sophisticated and still she is the tallest leader who stand against Rahul’s UP dream. Hence , she deserves to jeered at.

If there is a rape in UP it’s Maya’s UP and Mayawati is directly held responsible for the rape. But if it’s a rape in Delhi (which is most notorious in crime against women) it is never Sheila’s Delhi. No matter what action Maya takes it is never enough but a word by Sheila Dikshit is enough to satisfy the media. UP is size and population wise much bigger than Delhi but still crime in Delhi is a crime by people and crime in UP is a crime by Maya.

4. Baba Ramdev vs Salaman & Shahrukh Khan

Everyone witnessed how Baba Ramdev has been ridiculed, targeted and sneered at by our elite media and their esteem studio guests since the day he started his agitation against black money. His yoga methods, his aide, his money, his integrity, his intention and everything about him was mocked at not only in TV studios but also on twitter by our elite journos.

But when Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan questioned Baba’s intentions it was flashed as a national sentiment. Since when Salman and Shahrukh are representing honesty and aspirations of this nation? Why should we be told that what they think about national issues plaguing our nation? What is their personal contribution in fighting corruption?

5. Fai vs Who-is- Fai :

FBI arrested Fai for lobbying on behalf of ISI against India on Kashmir issue. Many of our prominent who-is-who so-called activists, intellectual and media persons are found to be a frequent visitors to Fai conference where they used to help Fai in creating anti-India propaganda. Media instead of exposing these anti-national people completely blacked out the news. Except Arnab Goswami no one else found it necessary to tell the nation the activity of these anti-nationals. Few print media exposed the issue as shown in the blog of Narendra Modi.

http://www.narendramodi.com/post/Real-face-of-the-pseudo-intellectual-preachers-of-India.aspx

Question is why media is protecting the interest of people who are working against our nation’s sovereignty. Has the media gone so anti-India to protect ISI propaganda?

6. A Raja vs Chidambaram

The role of Chidambaram in 2G scam is coming to light in each passing day and now it is getting obvious that he must be a beneficiary of the loot. Why Chidambaram is not being questioned the way A Raja was?Why Chidambaram is protected by media so zealously? Is he above scrutiny because he speaks good English, a Haravard Graduate?

If we need a reform in our political process we also need a bigger reform in our media that is more and more behaving as a propaganda arm of their political masters and are indulging in anti-India activities. A fascist media in a democracy can only create havoc.

President A P J Abdul Kalam in the year 2006 dedicated Gujarat government’s revolutionary ‘Jyotigram Yojana’ to the nation that supplies 24 hours continuous three phase quality power to all the 18,065 villages in the state.

Situation prior to Jyotigram :

Till 2003 power supply to villages was for a limited number of hours ranging from 8 to 12 hours, in some cases even less. This was because a common feeder catered to different types of use of electricity: residential, agricultural, industrial and commercial. As it was not feasible to supply electricity throughout the day for the purpose of agriculture – that accounted for about one-third of the total supply from the utilities – the power supply was limited to a few hours. Even during these hours, there were interruptions. Consequently, power supply for domestic, commercial and industrial uses was irregular, inadequate and unpredictable.

Jyotigram Yojana :

The Jyotigram Yojana (JGY) was launched in September 2003 on a pilot basis. It was introduced as a Government–local body participatory scheme, but largely funded through government grant. The pilot scheme covering eight districts which have large agriculture demand was successfully completed in October 2004. The scheme was later extended to other villages. By March 2006 it was implemented throughout the state covering over 18000 villages and about 9700 hamlets. The total expenditure on the scheme was Rs. 1100 crores (Rs 11 billon or US $ 0.25 billion).

The JGY involved erection of 1.6 million electric poles installation of 15,500 transformers and laying down of 75,000 kms. of electric lines. This was implemented in two and a half years from October 2004 to March 2006.

http://www.slideshare.net/InnovationIndia/jyotigram-innovation-for-india-award-winner

Benefits :

Prior to the JGY, there was 8-14 hours of 3-phase power supply, 10-12 hours of 1-phase power supply and 3-4 hours no power supply in rural areas. There were frequent interruptions even during the period when the utility was expected to supply power to agriculture. There was irregular use of power and illegal conversion from 1-phase to 3-phase use in several cases. After the JGY, there was 24 hours 3-phase supply through JGY feeders and 8 hours 3-phase continuous supply through agricultural feeders. Benefits are :

Improved quality of power supply

Less interruption and more stable power supply both to agriculture and other

consumers

Households would be able to use electrical appliances (some relief from drudgery

to housewives)

Scope for development of cottage and small-scale industries.

Scope for improvement of better health, education, information technology and

other infrastructure facilities in rural areas.

Less migration from rural to urban areas.

Better energy accounting and reduction in loss to utilities.

Other benefits :

There are many other initiatives including Jyotigram that has resulted in the below and these are case studies in itself. However, I am just including a short description to explain how this project has far reaching benefits.

The Gujarat Electricity Board has seen one of the most talked-about turnaround in recent times with this year’s profit of Rs 200 crore replacing the whopping cumulative loss of Rs 2,542 crore in fiscal 2000.

Gujarat Electricity Board’s Turnaround – London Business School

http://www.iipmthinktank.com/functions/strategy/Gujarat-Electricity-Board.pdf

Gujarat has been an outstanding performer in agriculture, growing at 9.6% per annum since 2000-01 which is more than 3 times the national average. This is a state that has never been known as an agriculture state.

Awards :

The state of Gujarat received prestigious Public Service Innovation award of year 2010 for its Jyotigram scheme.

Coverage by our national media :

What is the response of our national media to this great Jyotigram initiative by Narendra Modi…Any independent media would have presented this model to the country creating awareness among people about the welfare the Govt. is capable of doing. However, for our national media if there is something good about Modi then the strategy is to keep a stoic silence or to discredit the achievement by giving some random examples by some random reporter in some random way. Here are some samples (Also note the negative propaganda before Gujarat election)

Assembly elections in WB, Assam, TN, Pondichery and Kerla must have come as an eye opener for the political parties. Especially the 3 biggest losers Congress,CPI(M) and BJP have lots to learn to from these elections. Unfortunately these 3 political parties are either basking in self-glory or deriving self-satisfaction from the defeat of the other losers. This is the typical traits of a looser that is too stubborn to learn.

The predicament of Congress party is quite well explained in this article by Tavleen Singh http://epaper.indianexpress.com/IE/IEH/2011/05/22/ArticleHtmls/22_05_2011_009_039.shtml .

The Gandhis, in their obsession for absolute power, are not only insulting the Indian voters but also ensuring no regional leaders is left to represent the Congress party at state level. Tarun Gogoi may be the last man standing in the dying list of non-Gandhi Congress leaders. This self-defeating strategy of grand-old party is creating more and more sycophants and less and less voters.

CPI(M) under Prakash Karat displays the same old Marxist intellectual superiority and if Mamata performs a bit well this dangerous element in Indian politics will die with a Karl Marx book in hand and arrogance in head.

The only solace for the Congress party is the illusion the main opposition party BJP is living in. Except Nitin Gadkari all the central leaders of BJP are thriving in negativity. They have nothing positive to offer as a party with “difference” and have been in deniable state about their own ineffectiveness. Below are few of the malaises and myths the BJP party is living in.

Myth about India is turning into a bi-polar party :

Time and again BJP central leadership is claiming that India is moving towards a bi-polar politics. This assumption makes them belief that the sins of Congress party will automatically make the votes sway to BJP. This is nothing but a self-fulfilling prophecy that has been proved wrong in the recent assembly election where the BJP failed to make any mark even in a state like Assam where it was hopeful of forming a government. This myth is making them lazy by putting all their bet on anti-Congress sentiment which is not necessarily resulting in pro-BJP sentiment.

Culture of party high command:

Few of the senior Delhi leadership of BJP seem to be harboring a dream of absolute power like the Congress High command. The Congress high command is singularly responsible for the destruction on Congress regional leadership that lead to Congress losing many states election after election. This culture is a bane in Indian politics and strangely few of the BJP Delhi leaders seem to be admiring this. Latest example is the attempt by few Delhi leaders to throw out Yedyurappa as CM. I think it’s only the foresight of Nitin Gadkari that prevented BJP from doing this blunder. Had there been a Rajnath Singh they would mostly have removed Yeddi and in turn would have lost Karnataka to oppositions. Yedyurappa has now proven that he is a survivor and the latest attempt by Karnataka Governor to dismiss the state Govt. has only added to his strength. Yeddi certainly needs to clear his corrupt image and be a person of governance and if he does so Karnataka will be in BJP’s plate in the next election too.

Another high command culture we saw is in Assam where the BJP central leadership instead of developing local leaders put a ineffective Rajnath Singh and varun Gandhi for the election management. All the leaders of BJP are paraded in front of Assam public, but the result gave a rude shock to BJP. BJP needs to shun this dangerous culture soon and should just guide not define the state level politics.

Being loud does not mean people are keen to hear to you :

The current UPA government is probably the most corrupt and ineffective Govt. in the history of India. BJP seems to be losing this golden opportunity provided by Congress to reap any electoral dividend. Instead of a sustained campaign against the misdeeds of this Govt. BJP central leaders are indulging in few loud protests at times. Protests are fine, but they also need to convince people why BJP instead should be the choice of people. Subramaniyam Swamy, Anna Hazare and baba Ramdev are mostly filling this gap of opposition without whom this UPA government would have gone scot free both in legal and public courts.

The UPA government is targeting all the BJP state governments especially Narendra Modi and the Delhi leadership are failing to protect them in parliament. I am sure few of the Delhi leaders who do not want Modi to come to centre have a silence support to these smear campaigns.

BJP has other problems of infighting, lack of credible leadership, lack of focus on critical elections etc. and its current existence is solely dependent on few of the excellent state leaders it has. The Delhi leadership has been a failure and if BJP carries them along then it will lose the 2014 election as well.

Looking Forward :

At this juncture the best strategy for the BJP would be to project Narendra Modi as the leader of BJP, send the lazy Delhi leadership to their constituencies to strengthen the party at local level, retire few of the leaders who have lived out their time and spread a positive development message to the masses so that it can be accepted as a true alternative to Congress. Leaders like Nitin Gadkari gives the hope that BJP will do this sooner or later where as few other leaders are giving me a complete opposite feeling.

In the recently conducted India Today Leadership conclave, Narendra Modi was simply superb and was turned out to be the biggest attraction , almost that of a rock star. Many who watched him speaking have been totally convinced on why he should lead the country and why under his leadership India does not have to wait till 2050 to be a developed nation.

I do not have enough words to describe his vision, hence, just providing the links of the videos. Only thing I would like to highlight is the difference in the conduct of the audience when you contrast this summit with the HT leadership summit happened few years back. This time there is a visible respect shown by the delegates who were present in the conclave. He received the loudest applause, audience were most attentive during his speech, the questions asked to him were positive and the audience was enjoying every answer given by Modi. In HT leadership summit everyone had come together with an agenda to embarrass Mr Modi and showed him blatant disrespect.

I believe the anti-Modi elements in the so-called intellectual and civil society have started loosing their clout on public opinion. The acceptability of Modi among people from all the spectrum of society is increasing at a very fast rate. Modi has been conducted himself in utmost dignified way when any Tom,Dick and Hardy took the liberty of calling him murderer,killer,Hitler,Nero,rabble-rouser, anti-democratic, shrill, communal, megalomaniac, self-obsessed, autocratic etc. etc and etc.

He has never reciprocated strongly nor has used any threatening language against all such elements. He let his work speak for him and today all the vested interests are facing the risk of being defeated. The Radia-tape and the UPA scams have further damaged the credibility of such people.

Modi has proved again what leadership quality really means. Hope below videos will give you a glimpse of India’s future under Modi’s leadership.

The current UPA govt. has lost all its credibility to govern this country. The scams, the brazenness to cover up the scams, the arrogance and the attempts by the Govt. to weaken our institutions has shaken the self-confidence and the image of our nation. Till now the party had been able to hide all its misdeeds behind the PM’s carefully cultivated clean image. The clean image now has black stains all over it . We have a PM who is hiding behind the coalition politics and self-pity to justify the ugly scams.Behind the PM’s clean image hide the real culprits and Congress at the cost of our democracy is going to protect them.

This nasty governance has created an anti-congress feeling among people and I believe there are sections in BJP that are hoping this anti-congressism will help them in returning to power .However, this will be a self-defeating strategy.BJP needs to decide if it is going to fight election on anti-congressism politics or it is going to face electorate based on development and governance politics. Whether it’s going to continue with an agitational politics or it is going to start an inspirational politics. Whether it’s going to compromise its own values to please its allies or it is going to trust its own internal strength.

BJP today is better than BJP in 2004 , however , it is still a long way to go to be the party of choice to govern the country. Though everyone had written off Nitin gadkari when he took on the responsibility of BJP , he has done a great job to bring BJP back to track. He speaks the right language of governance and development. However, none of the central BJP leaders has the mass appeal and the character to inspire the nation that will result in political dividend.

If BJP wants to have a new avatar of development and governance then only Narendra Modi should lead BJP. Narendra modi is the tallest leader in BJP to represent and communicate this image of BJP to people of this country. He is non-corrupt, efficient, visionary, a development man and a true nationalist. Under Modi’s leadership development can be a revolution in india and BJP has the potential to be the architect of a modern, developed and a powerful india. Without Modi BJP at best can be a lesser evil to Congress.

With Godhra verdict, SIT report and the endorsement of a small sections of Muslims to Modi’s development politics , the time has come for Modi to join the national politics. The media propaganda against Modi and BJP is not going to diminish. However, the propaganda will lose its sheen with the support of people.

L.K. Advani deserves credits for making BJP a national party. But, time has come for him to gracefully leave the chair so that the next generation BJP leaders can take over the party affairs. If there are some leaders in BJP who do not want Modi to come to centre for their own vested interests, they should understand that BJP as a political party and India as a nation has lots to lose if Modi is not allowed to lead BJP.

Personally, I would love to see the following happening:

Modi will not stand for the chief ministership in the next Gujarat state election. In spite of Modi , if BJP wins the election , it will be an endorsement of Modi’s development policy and the efficient systems he has built. It will silence Modi’s critics who project him as a one man autocratic ruler.

Modi will lead BJP after Gujarat elections and will spend the following years in strengthening the party and taking his development message to nook and corner of India.

There will lateral induction of good people joining BJP under Modi’s leadership. As an example , it will be great to see Kiran Bedi , Arun shourie joining Modi’s team. BJP will again live up to its slogan of “Party with a difference”.

Eventually it will be a day of immense joy when Modi becomes the PM of India.

I received few comments on my earlier posts that raised a pertinent question of why BJP’s media management is so poor and why it failed to counter the pro-Congress media by promoting any pro-BJP media channels.

Though I do not have any specific answer to this, I think it originates from the culture during Indira Gnadhi’s rule when, as it happened to all democratic institutions, the media in general (barring few brave media personalities) was a tool of Govt. and it used to crawl the way its masters wanted it to. Without much support from media Vajpayee,Advani etc. had to entirely rely on grass roots politics . Hence, culture-wise Congress mastered the art of media management where as BJP put more trust on street politics.

There may be many other reasons why our media is so biased like ideological / political/ economical/ emotional/ structural issues. I doubt if there is any other democracy in the world where the media serves a dynasty with such a zeal as the indian media.

The matter of the fact is that media hates Modi to the core and expecting this to change is as naive as expecting Sun TV disclosing the real assets of Karuna family .

However, what I find interesting is how Modi has used the technology and internet to reach the people directly instead of being at media’s mercy. Be it youtube, blog, twitter, facebook or the highly professional narendramodi.in,vibrant gujarat sites, he is everywhere telling people about the development happening in Gujarat. He must be one of the most tech-savvy politicians in the world.

This strategy by Narendra Modi has ,to some extent, countered the perception created by media on Modi. I am a living example of this. From a big Modi-baiter , I have converted to a huge huge fan of him after I started discovering about him in web world. In future, the internet is going to be a more powerful weapon than the conventional media and Modi is certainly going to lead the way.

Having said that, the power of visual media is nonetheless to be under-estimated.Especially visual Media has the advantage of creating an effective negative perception among people by sensationalizing manufactured news, be it Shohrabudin or Tehelka stings. Media attempts to create an aversion for Modi among the middle class and minorities of the country by projecting a wrong image of him and to a large extent media has been successful in its attempt till now.

It is,hence, important for Modi and BJP to make more friends in the mainstream media who at least stay unbiased to him. There are few media personalities who have started speaking openly about Narendra Modi’s leadership. However, it is a mammoth task to break the powerful nexus of Congress and media.

A recent example of this is the leak of SIT report to Tehelka and Hindustan Times (whose political bias is well known) and the subsequent joining of other media channels in announcing Modi guilty. There is a serious issue here of institutional sanity when a sealed report to Supreme court gets leaked and the verdict is announced to public by media before it reaches the judge. It’s time the supreme court keeps a check on this malice where a parallel media trail is staged to influence our legal and social system.

The truth is the only thing that can stop Modi reaching Delhi is the media. Media and Congress know this well and they are going to put all their energy into keeping him away from Delhi. The closer we will be to 2014 we will see more of this happening against Modi. Diggy will supply the raw material and media will manufacture the news.

The challenge for Modi will be to defeat these forces the same way he has done it in Gujarat. I believe BJP, instead of being defensive, should trust in Modi’s leadership and take this challenge head-on intelligently, strategically and aggressively.

All hell broke loose when Times of India ,few days back , published the news of Darul Uloom VC Maulana Vastavi lauding Gujarat . Maulana Vastavi was in fact speaking about the all-inclusive development happening in Gujarat and the importance of education for Muslims to enjoy the real fruits of this development as explained in this excellent article by offstumped.

Same media houses that lazily, reluctantly covered the magnificent vibrant Gujarat Summit went into an overdrive producing articles after articles denouncing Maulana Vastavi. Since Times of India started this, it felt the maximum obligation to contain the damage as shown in the reporting pattern of Times of India below.

Jan 18 – Deoband chief lauds Modi’s Gujarat

Jan 19 - Social discrimination still persists

Jan 19 – Vastanvi’s comment draws mixed reactions

Jan 19 - Muslim leaders aghast at Deoband chief’s remarks on Modi

Jan 20 -Clerics slam Vastanvi for Modi praise

Jan 20 - `Hail Modi’ by Darul Uloom VC

Jan 21 - Personal relations behind rival’s silence on Vastanvi’s Modi praise?

As you see, ToI alone has produced daily 2/3 articles bashing Modi and discrediting Vastanvi .If you include other news articles it comes to more than 70 articles since last 3 days. The ultimate objective is either Maulana Vastanvi goes back on his statement or resigns from his post so that Modi can be put back to the same media space reserved for him. Interestingly, the left-liberal visual media ignored this news as doing it may take maulavi’s message to a much larger audience. Better to hide what can not be defended easily.

The most astonishing thing is all this is happening when Modi made no attempt to use Vastanvi’s endorsement to his advantage. In fact Modi has always shown grace dealing with media , advocated the importance of media in a democracy and the constructive role media can play in India. If Modi speaks to media they say he is brash and ugly, If he does not they say he has no remorse. Same media that does not dare to write a single word against Gandhi family calls Modi Hitler,Nero,mass-murderer,rabble-rouser,shrill,communal,anti-muslim,megalomaniac,autocrat in the most brazen way and if anyone challenges this notion be it Amitabh Bachan or maulana Vastanvi media goes after them with vengeance.

When modi speaks about 10% growth, knowledge economy, science, green energy, agriculture modernization, waste mangement, smart cities, infrastructure etc. our media writes about 2002 Godhra, 2002 Godhra and 2002 Godhra. It seems as if the career of a media person is directly proportional to number of anti-Modi projects he/she has undertaken.

In my earlier post I had reflected upon “Why do they hate narendra Modi” and I am totally convinced that even if all the Muslims of Gujarat praise Modi’s development policy, the media will still retain Modi’s status-quo.

Question is what is the objective of the media? The ominous objective is to keep Narendra Modi away from national politics so that the prince can occupy the throne unchallenged.

The strategy to achieve this objective is to create an impression that Modi is not acceptable outside Gujarat so that he will face enough resistance within BJP, from its allies , from the Congress and from the media.

The tool to implement this strategy is to maintain the communal,anti-muslim image of Modi. Sonia-led Congress has outsourced this task to CBI, media , ATS , NGOs ,the self-proclaimed activists and “civil-society”.

Rather than defeating Congress, the real challenge in front of Modi is how to fight all these external agents to lead BJP at the national level. I hope the central BJP leaders will also realize that in Modi the future lies (For the party and the country) and help Modi with all the support he requires. Modi deserves JUSTICE from all the canards, slanders, abuses and untouchability he had faces in past 8 years.

P.S. : The day India gets governance in stead of government , India will also get the true 4th pillar of democracy in stead of news manufacturer and brokers.

The success of Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2011 has been the most positive news for our country after Nitish’s victory. It provides a glimpse of what we as a nation can achieve when our leaders possess the right vision, passion and dedication. The leadership of Narendra Modi can not be described in any better words than as done in the speeches of the who-is-who at the summit. In the world of media and social media Offstumped, Kanchan Gupta , Swapan Dasgupta etc. have already told their readers why Modi should be the future of this country.

I do not want to go into the leadership of Modi and the success of summit as I consider myself out of words to explain the aspiration it creates in people like me to be part of the Indian success story as delivered by Modi. He is indeed one of the greatest change agent of this century.

Let me instead go through few of the surprising elements of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit. No, I am not at all surprised about the 21 lakh crores of investment that were committed. I am rather surprised about how Modi is expected to explain about the 21 lakh crores investment to scoundrels who rather themselves should be explaining the lakhs of crores of public money they have looted through 2G scam, CWG etc.

I twitted before the start of Vibrant Gujarat Summit that whether media is going to discredit or media is going to ignore the summit . The facts and figures of the summit (including previous ones) are not to be easily disputed, hence media chose the option of mostly ignoring the summit. Due to the credibility issue media is facing now, it did some lip service about the summit. A terrorist like Sohrabuddin gets 24*7 coverage of media , where as one of the biggest investor mela of India recieved few moments of coverage. However, if one understands our left-liberal, elite Indian English media this behaviour is not at all surprising.

What surprised me is how come media resisted the temptation of bringing a panel of so-called Gandhians and civil-society to tell the nation how the name of Gandhi has been tarnished due to the event held at Mahatma Mandir and Modi’s association to it. Narendra Modi not only held the summit at Mahatma Mandir but also he mentioned Gandhi and his principles in almost all his speeches. I am surprised that even NDTV did not invite all these people to provide them their 1 hour of glory and sycophancy. I am too simple a person to read the mind of Indian media, but my take is media has been instructed to ignore the summit by their masters. Narendra Modi’s habit of taking the criticisms directly to people and asking people to judge has not helped either.

What also surprised me is the way Arnab Goswami named the debate as “http://www.timesnow.tv/Debate-Narendra-Modis-image-makeover-possible-2/videoshow/4362667.cms “. The rule is : “If Modi does something wrong it’s a reflection of his character and if Modi does something good it’s his desperate attempt to do an image makeover”. Arnab Goswami, the new jury and judge of Indian media , the crusader of corruption in the end insinuated that : “Arnab is not yet convinced that the image make-over is possible.”. I consider Arnab , out of all media persons , to be honest and a person having good intentions. I was surprised the way he tried to project the investment to our nation as an image make-over of an individual.

I was also surprised about Rajdeep hosting a balanced show where a Muslim business man from Gujarat was praising Modi’s leadership along with Prabhu Chawla. Though Rajdeep does not seem to be pleased with their open support to Modi , however, such a program by CNN-IBN is quite surprising. It is funny to see the Gujarat’s leader of opposition trying to make a point by showing some papers that have the unemployment figure of the state.

NDTV does not surprise me any more. After Radia tape the country knows where the BUCKs stop.

The other surprising factor was that none of the Congress spokesmen or top leaders indulged in Modi-bashing to belittle the Vibrant Gujarat event. This proves my theory that the strategy of Congress has been to ignore the event and play mischief from back-door the way the PSUs were given a warning (which is also a veiled threat to other private business houses who participated)

In spite of all this , Modi in the closing ceremony of the event praised media for giving a positive coverage to the event. Modi, after the win in Panchayat election, told in a rally that he considers media a critical success factor of our democracy and would like to be friend with media through honest and truthful means. I hope media will help Modi in Nation-building rather than trying to put hurdles at each and every step he takes.
